Publication: Groupspace: a 3D Workspace Supporting User Awareness

Real-time distributed groupware must support awareness of other users for collaborators to work effectively. Several techniques have been developed for enhancing awareness in two-dimensional workspaces, but less is known about how to support awareness in three-dimensional workspaces. The Groupspace system incorporates several awareness enhancing techniques to help users maintain awareness of others when they are distant, facing away, and out of view.

Projects

Awareness In Shared 3D Workspaces
Groupspace is an environment that allows its users to view 3D models in a shared workspace. The purpose of Groupspace is to allow collaborators to view 3D models from any aspect while maintaining an awareness of the viewing perspectives of the other participants in real time.
