Nicole Beres

Position: MSc Student

Nicole is pursuing a M.Sc. in Computer Science (Applied Computing) under the supervision of Dr. Madison Klarkowski. She is passionate about games user research and aspires to transition into the gaming industry. Her goal is to use her knowledge of video games combined with her expertise in research methods to better understand the psychology and needs of gamers. Nicole first joined the Human-Computer Interaction Lab as an undergraduate research assistant during the summer of 2020 and 2021. In 2021, she completed a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan, co-supervised by Dr. Madison Klarkowski and Dr. Regan Mandryk. Since then, Nicole has published work related to player perceptions of toxicity in gaming as well as experiences of choke and clutch in competitive multiplayer video games. She is currently working on growing the collegiate esports scene in Saskatchewan by kickstarting a competitive esports program at the UofS.
